Title and Cover: The True Tales of the Road to Key West – Love all his covers
I am among the privileged few to beta read for Michael Reisig. The author radiates compassionate humanity and this composite puts you squarely in his treasured guest category of close friends. You can’t read his books without nodding your head in knowing acceptance that these were deeply personal revelations about his amazing survival and how these books came to be written.
Sharing with his close friend and real-life buddy, Bill, they tasted freedoms and excitement in travels and adventures most of us will only ever read about. And there’s your key–being a part–even as a reader, of these swashbuckling explorations of life and treasures beyond monetary value. If you have never read a Reisig book, you deserve this chance at a birdseye view into each of his Road to Key West novels.
This recollection will introduce you to each book in the series, including pictures, and introspective regarding the adventure that generated each of the books. As with any series, you learn to love the series regulars and watch for the rest of the crew of the Hole In The Coral Wall Gang to pop up adding gleeful and daring dimension to the story. Protagonist Kansas and his buddy have a close cadre of support from ‘Nam pilot Crazy Eddie to Rufus, the rastaman. It was Rufus who said, “Sometimes the Gods, they throw you a bone.” I love them all.
If you’re a purist, you may wish to begin with The Road to Key West (#1 in the series) but that is not necessary as these can all be standalone books. Each and every narrative brings you a new and fast-paced, incredible adventure.
Beautiful charismatic pictures (most in brilliant Kindle color) are peppered throughout the delicious introduction to each book, inviting you in. (The print book is available, but pictures are in black and white.) Please don’t ask me which is my favorite. Each new addition to the series was my favorite–until Michael published another–and you know how that goes. 🙂 😉
If you’ve read his series, this book will give you insight, otherwise, this short chronicle will give you the taste for more. More adventure…more exotic locales, more treasure hunts, more romance, more desperados, high-jinx and rollicking excitement all contained in his Road to Key West books. Don’t miss your chance to peek inside the “real” story behind the story.

The Author: (From Goodreads Author page) Michael Reisig has been writing professionally for 15 years. He is a former newspaper editor and publisher, an award-winning columnist, and a best-selling novelist…His works have been optioned for motion pictures, sold to overseas publishers, and produced in CD, audio, and e-book format. He has been featured in magazines such as Writer’s Digest and Southern Living, and in numerous newspapers across the country.
Reisig was born in Enid, Oklahoma, in 1948. The first son of a military family, he was raised in Europe and California before moving to Florida. He attended high school and college in the Tampa Bay area. After graduating from college, he relocated to the Florida Keys, establishing a commercial diving business in which he served as the company pilot, traveling extensively throughout the southern hemisphere, diving, treasure hunting, and adventuring. From there he turned to journalism, putting many of his experiences into the pages of his novels and columns, going on to manage, then own newspapers.
He presently resides in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas where he fishes and hunts and writes his novels, and occasionally escapes to the Caribbean for another adventure.
(From Amazon book blurb) To all my readers: This is not exactly a novel. It’s a madcap recollection of real experiences that took place in the Caribbean, throughout the early and middle years of my life (as a professional diver, pilot, treasure seeker, and taker of foolish chances). Ultimately, these “wild and crazy” events, along with a good deal of imagination, led to the writing of my best-selling series, “The Road to Key West.”
These tales will make you smile with wonder, remind you of the importance of loyalty and love in life, and make you laugh your ass off. In addition, I have taken these experiences, encounters, and adventures, and blended them into and around the highlights of my eight “Road To Key West” novels. Included in the package is an assortment of memorable color photos and terrific quotes, to create a humorous, insightful, walk down memory lane for new and seasoned readers.
If you haven’t read any of “The Road To Key West” novels, this is the perfect place to begin. If you’ve read them all, you’ll love these engaging, sometimes laugh-out-loud recollections. ©2018 V Williams

These are not your ordinary travel adventures, Nina. You really need someone who had your back for these kinds of travel.

Well, I don’t think there’s ever been a book that I specifically wanted a kindle version of! Lol! The pictures sound lovely. I also love a book that has me nodding in acceptance of anything! I feel that I read too many books that have me shaking my head in disbelief… Although, I do read a lot of horror. Lol!

He had a lot of fun putting this book together. Memories, pictures, stories. Describes each book. Think I read them all and most of his others.
