The storyline is immersive in the sea and sailing life and envelopes the reader in the atmosphere of the islands and island life. Well-plotted and entertaining.

The Author: Born in Montreal and raised in rural Ontario, Scott Mackenzie has worn many different hats in his life, from bartending to working as a heavy duty mechanic for the railway, to owning and operating a take-out restaurant. Ah Shalini, you are such a good buddy, so thankful for you. Himself gave me his cold. Guess bound to happen. He ran out to get me some cold medicine. Shouldn’t have. He is the more fragile. I’ve been blessed, by yourself as well. Stay safe, you are a happy place in our lives.

As long as your will is strong, the virus cannot bypass that. Seen that many times on my patients.
I had a 97 year old man for surgery who had multiple problems along with a broken leg. He could see I was scared. I had to explain to relatives he could die on table. The patient later told me that he won’t die on table and nothing will happen to him. Lo and behold, not a single complication. His blood pressure didn’t fall at all. We chatted quite a bit while the surgery was on. A year later, he came searching for me to show he could walk on his legs. I will never forget him. Even today his attitude teaches me to be strong.

I saw that attitude in my mother, the inventor of pessimism who passed the trait to me. When it came time, however, that she faced multiple fractures, both hips, her pelvis, cardiac surgery, and heaven knows what else (including pneumonia), she hung on thru it all until my sister (neurologically challenged) found a guy and was promised a life separate from us (something Connie vowed would never happen). When she saw that Connie would be okay, she said “I’m giving up” and passed away 5 hours later at 96 y/o (after Connie had gone home for the evening). But then my mother was Swedish and Irish and she was stubborn and bull-headed as they come. Nice comment, Shalini. I try every day to knock down that “can’t” from my mind.
